NP Kornati
The most indented archipelago on the Mediterranean, the Kornati islands are known for their varied unusual forms and extraordinary relief structure, and especially the high cliffs. It is also a very popular destination among the sailors. The “crowns” (cliffs) on the islands facing the open sea, and interesting relief structures, make this part of Kornati National Park unique. Beauty and singularity of the archipelago moved authorities in 1980 to proclaim a bigger part of that area national park.
NP Krka
River Krka represents a natural Karst phenomenon and in 1985 it was proclaimed National Park. Beside many smaller cascades Krka also has eight bigger waterfalls; two of them are the most beautiful – Roski slap and Skradinski buk, in the national park. Both are very attractive for visitors and nature admirers for its beauty and magnificent landscapes. Visitors of national park have a possibility to experience unique beauty of nature and plenty cultural monuments in a couple of hours of boat trip on Visovačko jezero lake.
NP Paklenica
A national park park on the southern side of Velebit, the largest mountain massif of Croatia. The park boasts some 70 caves, among which the most spectacular are the Manita pec cave and the Vodarica pit. Only the Manita Pec cave is open for viewing.
NP Plitvice Lakes
The most beautiful and the most popular Croatian national park, part of the UNESCO’s World Heritage. There are large forestry complexes in the Park area of which some sections are protected as a special reserve of forestry vegetation due to its primeval characteristics (Corkova uvala virgin forest). Diversity of places and living conditions makes possible for numerous species of plants and animals in watery and terrestrial areas of the Park to develop with no disturbancy. Transitive type of climate between coastal and continental with microclimatic diversities makes summer pleasant and sunny, while on the other side winter is relatively long, harsh and snowrich.
PP Telašćica
Telašćica bay is situated in the central part of the eastern Adriatic coast, in the SE part of the island of Dugi otok. It was proclaimed the Nature Park in 1988. Three basic phenomena are certainly the main characteristics of the Nature Park: the unique bay of Telascica as one of the safest, the most beautiful and the largest havens on the Adriatic that includes 25 small bays and 69 km of the well-indented coastline, the cliffs of the island of Dugi otok or so-called “Stene”, rising up to 200 m above the sea level and falling down vertically up to 90 m below the sea level, and finally the salt lake called “Mir” with its curative characteristics. Beautifully cultivated meadows and hillsides are rich with Mediterranean vegetation with more than 300 species of flora and equally rich fauna. The undersea world has more than 250 plant and 300 animal species.
Lake of Vrana
Lake of Vrana is the largest lake of Croatia. The park boundary stretches between Pirovac and Pakostane. The dominant feature of the Park is the Special ornithological reserve, which received that status back in 1983 and was included in the list of Important Bird Areas in Europe thanks to its well-preserved great reeds on the northwestern part of the lake, as a rare marsh system of great bio-variety and of singular scientific and ecological importance.
